India de Panchimalco
This image is perhaps Jose Mejia Vides’s most famous. Â It currently hangs in the Museum of Modern Art in San Salvador and represents his focus on the culture and traditions of El Salvador. Â The Muralist backdrop frames a more defined intricately portrayed indigenous native of the small town Panchimalco. Â Panchimalco remained Mejia Vides’s favorite location to portray throughout his life, and many of his works show scenes from the town, portraits of locals, and the colonial architecture of Panchimalco.
